MCON began when Josh King, frustrated with the stagnation of mobile gaming and missing the freedom of handhelds like the DS and Game Boy, set out to design a pocketable MagSafe controller that didn’t exist. After 3D-printing a prototype and gaining overwhelming support on YouTube, he left college, formed a company, and began developing it until rising costs stalled progress. Josh then reached out to Ohsnap, and we reignited the project, refining the design into a sleek, functional controller that transformed a dorm-room idea into a polished gaming device.

    Bringing the Dream To Life

    I've long hoped for a mobile controller that folds up in such a way to protect the buttons and sticks but still has the form factor reminiscent of an Xbox controller. The MCON is pretty darn close to the dream I had, and I'm really glad it's real now! The recessed thumbsticks are going to take some getting used to, but the grips, buttons, and triggers are all that I hoped for. 10/10 would recommend!

    What I’ve wanted for years

    It’s crazy how this is the first time a phone controller had been made to mimic the feeling of a DS controller. It’s pocketable, extremely easy to pair, has incredible buttons, sticks, etc. and feels extremely robust. I remember watching Josh King post his first video on Mcon a year and a half ago and watching each update they’ve made has culminated into what I’ve always wanted in a phone controller. The magsafe magnet is also insanely strong which is MASSIVE.
